What Gets Removed
Remove Every Type of Background Noise from Audio
Our AI noise removal tool can even remove noise 20–30 dB below the speech level, with no manual configuration.
Hum
50/60 Hz electrical buzz from ground loops and equipment.
Hiss
High-frequency microphone and preamp self-noise.
Wind
Low-frequency rumble from air movement across the microphone.
Room Noise
HVAC, computer fans, and traffic heard through walls.
Clicks and Pops
Electrical faults, handling noise, and digital transmission errors.
Background Conversation
Overlapping speech in offices, cafes, and shared spaces.
Static
Crackling from cable faults, poor connectors, and interference.
Breath Sounds
Close-mic breath noise in voice-overs and narration.
AI vs Manual
Why AI Noise Removal Outperforms Manual Editing
Manual noise reduction works, but it requires time, technical skill, and produces inconsistent results. Here is the real difference.
⚙️ Manual (Audacity / Audition)
⏱
Capture a noise profile, adjust parameters, and check for artifacts.
📚
Upload and process — no configuration needed.
🔁
Requires a learning curve for each DAW and plugin.
⚠️
Results vary by operator skill and time pressure.
💻
Over-processing risk — robotic voice and spectral smearing.

Methodology
How Our Noise Removal Actually Works
Noise Reducer cleans audio with a custom Mel-band neural network with a LoRA adaptation layer, built and trained in-house by the Inverse.AI team. Instead of a blunt noise gate that ducks everything below a threshold, the model splits the sound into frequency bands and learns a per-band mask that keeps the voice while suppressing wind, traffic, hum, hiss, echo, and chatter.
Because it refines the existing voice with that learned mask rather than re-synthesizing it, cleaned audio keeps its natural timbre — a quiet room, not a robot. The same engine powers our apps, which have cleaned audio for 5,000,000+ users.

What Noise Removal Can and Can't Do
- Works well: AC hum, fan, traffic, hiss, room tone, wind, keyboard, light echo.
- Partial: heavy reverb (reduced, not erased); background speech close to the mic.
- Out of scope: background music or singing overlapping the voice's frequencies, overlapping speakers, and severely clipped audio.
Clean capture always beats post-processing — no model can restore detail that was never recorded.

Recording Tips
Reduce Noise Before It Reaches Post-Production
Noise removal works best when the source is reasonably clean. These practices lower the noise load.
Pick a small, soft room
Closets full of clothes absorb reflections and make great home booths.
Mic 6–8 inches away
Proximity raises the signal-to-noise ratio — your voice louder vs. room noise.
Kill ambient sources
Turn off fans, AC, and loud computers. Shut doors and windows.
Use balanced XLR cables
Balanced cables cancel electromagnetic interference that appears as hiss.
Record 5s of silence
A clean noise profile before your take often improves processing.
Low self-noise mic
Choose 12 dB-A or lower — equipment noise stacks across the chain.
Why Noise Reducer
A Specialist Tool, Not an Afterthought Feature
Most platforms add noise removal as an optional feature inside a full editor. Noise Reducer is built entirely around it.
No video timeline or project files. Upload audio, get clean audio.
Trained to preserve timbre and formants — no robotic artifact at normal strength.
Preview the cleaned result before creating an account or paying.
